Wear loose fitting clothing to your first lesson (no singlets or shorts), tracksuit pants or leggings are a good idea. Other than that all you have to bring is a water bottle!
We have many different people attending at different fitness levels. At first you may have to pace yourself, but you will find that as you progress through Karate journey, your fitness will improve as well.
You are never too old to start Karate! The Shuhari Dojo has a wide range of ages and you may find that your age is actually an asset to your karate!
Most definitely! The members of the Shuhari Dojo are encouraged to compete, and Sensei Luke frequently travels with students to coach at competitions. It can be quite daunting to go to your first competition, however Sensei Luke and the other SSKA coaches will guide you through the whole process and we know you will be hooked!
We have two general classes per week, and squad training at select times, but students are not expected to attend all classes; we understand people have to work around personal life/work schedules. At the Shuhari Shotokan Karate Australia Dojo we do expect students to be dedicated to their training, and under normal circumstances expect regular class participation. If you a preparing for a competition or grading, you are encouraged to attend all classes.
To join the organisation there will be a annual fee, and after that the cost is $75.00 a month. If you are passing through the area or only wish to train every now and again, the casual rate is $15.00 per class.
